The country is celebrating its 73rd Republic Day on 26 January amid the third wave of Coronavirus pandemic. Rajpath hosts the Republic Day parade, which showcases India’s culture and military might. In the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the modern weapons of India are displayed. Various states are also presenting their tableaux.

At the Republic Day parade, four Mi-17V5 helicopters rained wreaths from the sky in a wineglass formation. Additionally, contingents of Centurion Tanks, PT-76s, MBT Arjun MK-Is, and APC Pukhrajs took part in the parade. Prime Minister Modi welcomed the President to Rajpath earlier. The parade began with a 21-gun salute.
In India, the Constitution became effective on 26 January. On 15 August 1947, India gained independence from the British, but on 26 January 1950, it became a sovereign democratic republic. The main festival event to take place on the Rajpath in the capital Delhi offers a spectacular glimpse at India’s cultural, military, and traditional heritage.
