Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2023: Elections for state assemblies are being held in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh today. All 230 of Madhya Pradesh’s assembly seats are up for vote today. Voting on 70 seats under the second phase is also taking place in Chhattisgarh at the same time.
Voting for 2,533 candidates, including political heavyweights like Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his predecessor and rival Kamal Nath, will take place on 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh. Here, in the Chhattisgarh assembly elections, the fate of 958 candidates—including the chief minister, deputy chief minister, eight ministers, and four MPs—will be decided on Friday during the second and final round of voting on 70 seats.
Stone pelting on BJP candidate in Bhind
As BJP candidate Rakesh Shukla arrived in Manhad village, Bhind, he was stoned. Shukla’s gunner had to defend himself by firing from the air. There is a tense situation at the spot.
Voting Machines Fixed After Practice Malfunctions
Anupam Rajan, the chief electoral officer, stated that several voting machines had faults during practice voting, but they were fixed right after. He claimed that while voting was ongoing, any EVMs or VVPATs that had issues were changed right away. Based on the data available to me till 9 a.m., 11.95% of the state had cast a ballot.
