Another rail accident at the same place, a goods train coach derailed near Siliguri Rangapani station, no major damage

Siliguri, West Bengal: News of another train accident has been reported within a month of the Kanchenjunga Express incident. whereby a freight train coach crashed close to the Rangapani station in Siliguri. There are no known casualties from the accident. But at the moment, train service on that line is not available.

Local sources claim that on Wednesday morning, a freight train carrying oil derailed close to the New Jalpaiguri station in the Rangapani district. Two of the coaches tumbled off the track. Nothing significant was damaged.

However, this incident is “important” in light of the Tuesday Howrah-Mumbai Mail disaster in Jharkhand and the one-and-a-half-month-old Kanchenjunga Express accident at the same location. Railway sources claim that the cargo has already been taken out and the railway line fixed. Train traffic on that line has, however, been suspended in the interim.
