Bhopal Women Rally for Support Waqf Bill, Lok Sabha Presentation Anticipated

Waqf Amendment Bill: A significant gathering of women in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, voiced their strong support for the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which is expected to be presented in the Lok Sabha today. The women, representing various community groups, held demonstrations and meetings, emphasizing the importance of the bill for the better management and protection of Waqf properties. They highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in the administration of these properties, which are often used for charitable and religious purposes.

The women’s support stems from the belief that the proposed amendments will bring much-needed reforms to the existing Waqf Act. They believe the bill will help prevent the misuse of Waqf land and funds, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries. Many spoke about past instances of mismanagement and encroachment, which they hope the new legislation will address. They feel this bill will empower the communities and help in the development of the region.

Their active participation and public support underscore the importance of this bill to the women of Bhopal. They hope that the Lok Sabha will consider their concerns and pass the bill, leading to a more equitable and efficient system for managing Waqf properties. The women plan to continue their support and follow the progress of the bill closely, hoping for positive change.

Government is preparing to make changes in Waqf Board Act, bill may be presented in Parliament today

Today marks the beginning of the Parliament’s budget session once more. Today, the government can introduce numerous bills in the Parliament, one of which might be a proposal from the Modi government to change the Waqf Board Act. As a result, a contentious discussion between the ruling parties and the opposition may arise.

Approximately forty revisions to the current Waqf Act are being prepared by the central government. On this, the government may introduce a new bill in the Parliament. Currently, the Waqf Board has the right to take possession of property that has been dedicated as Waqf in the past and the Waqf Board has the legal basis for it. The new bill could ban this. There is currently discussion about reducing more of these rights.

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi stated, “This is very important,” in response to media rumors that the Center was bringing a measure to seize control of Wakf Board properties. There are no boundaries after the Wakf Board declares the land to be theirs. It is thought that they will need to be heard. There are at least 1000 acres of such land that have been invaded by the Wakf Board.”
