Russia sanctions 144 citizens of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia

144 citizens of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia were banned from entering Moscow, Russia on Thursday, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to the ministry’s announcement, the newly blacklisted individuals from the three countries included ministers, parliament members, public figures, and journalists.

The travel ban was put in place by Russia in reaction to “the aggressive lobbying of sanctions and other measures against Russia by the Baltic states, involvement in its internal affairs, and fanning Russophobic sentiments,” according to a statement.

Moscow Metro has opened the world’s longest 70-kilometer Big Circle Line

The longest subway line in the world, the 70-km Big Circle Line (BCL), has opened in Moscow. The metro line was built between 2011 and 2022, according to the Xinhua news agency.

The BCL’s first segment debuted in 2018, and it’s second, a 20-km extension that is the longest in the system’s history, debuted in December 2021.

The BCL includes 31 stations, 24 of which have 47 interchanges with current and upcoming metro stations in the capital.
