Cyclone 'Biparjoy' moves towards Rajasthan

Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ moves towards Rajasthan after devastation in Gujarat, heavy rain expected in many districts

After wreaking havoc in the Arabian Sea for ten days, Cyclone “Biparjoy” made landfall in Jakhau port in Gujarat’s Kutch area. Along the Kutch and Saurashtra beaches, the cyclone brought around significant rainfall and severe gusts. Currently, this storm is making its way through 940 Gujarati villages and approaching Rajasthan.

The effects of Cyclone “Biparjoy” were also felt in several regions of Rajasthan, as Jalore and Barmer districts saw widespread severe rainfall.

Officials from the Meteorological Department reported some areas received 60-70 mm of rain on Thursday night, and even today there will be heavy rain in these two districts.

The department issued a warning for extremely heavy rainfall on June 16 in several sections of the Barmer and Jalore districts due to the strength of the cyclone. Additionally, several areas of Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Pali, and Sirohi may see significant rains. In select areas, the districts of Bikaner, Rajsamand, Udaipur, and Dungarpur may also see severe downpours.
