Punjab Budget 2023: Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab presented the second full budget of its tenure, know all the big announcements

The second budget of Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann government (AAP), which is also its first detailed budget, was delivered today. Punjab’s budget for the fiscal year 2023–24 is Rs 1,96,462 crore, or 26% greater than the budget for the prior year, according to state finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema, who made the announcement in front of the assembly.

Cheema claimed that I had made a commitment to increase funding in my previous budget. Steps to raise farmers’ incomes will be one of this year’s focus topics. The Aam Aadmi Party government delivered on its election pledge to give Punjabi families 300 units of free electricity units per month.

During the fiscal year 2023–2024, Harpal Cheema announced capital expenditures of Rs. 11,000 782 crores. This budget is 22 percent higher than the prior one. The Punjab government, according to him, has taken action to encourage agricultural diversification.

Punjab Budget Highlights:

  • The border region has received a 40 crore budget allocation in the Punjab government’s budget for the first time.
  • In its first year, the Punjab government gave 26,797 young people permanent work. The necessary steps are being taken to fill 22,594 positions.
  • The Finance Minister indicated in his budget that Rs 26,295 crore will be allotted to the improvement of Punjab’s infrastructure. This represents an increase of 13% from the prior year.
  • The budget includes Rs 3,319 crore for panchayats and rural development. 11% more than the previous year.
  • An amount of Rs. 7,780 crores was given to residential consumers to get power subsidies.
  • A budget of Rs 990 crore has been proposed to support state university education in Punjab by offering help to various state universities.
  • A budgetary provision of Rs 4,781 crore has been made for health and family welfare for the fiscal year 2023–24. Comparative to last year, this is up 11%.

At around 12 noon, both of them got married. The CM of Delhi had come to attend the wedding along with the Kejriwal family. He performed the rituals of the father in marriage. Limited guests were called to the wedding, the wedding program was kept at the CM residence itself.

Punjab News: Bhagwant Mann meets Governor, claims to form government; Will take oath as CM on March 16

Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party‘s chief ministerial candidate in Punjab, met Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday. He claimed to form a government. On March 16, at 12:30 p.m., he will take the oath of office as Chief Minister. The AAP’s legislative party has elected Bhagwant Mann as its leader at its meeting in Mohali on Friday.

Several of you, including Harpal Singh Cheema, Aman Arora, Baljinder Kaur, Sarvjit Kaur Manuke, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair, Budh Ram, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, Jeevanjyot Kaur, and Dr. Charanjit Singh, have applied for the ministerial post in the government to be formed in Punjab. MLAs’ names are still being discussed.

Bhagwant Mann invited AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal to his swearing-in ceremony. Punjab’s next Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will swear in at Khatkar Kalan, the hometown of the great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in the Nawanshahr district.

During their visit, Mann and Kejriwal will visit the Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple, and Shri Ram Tirath Temple, according to a statement by the AAP. He will also participate in a roadshow in Amritsar to thank voters for their support. In the 117-member assembly, the Aam Aadmi Party won 92 seats.

Punjab Exit Poll Result 2022: Congress’s return difficult in Punjab? AAP gets majority in all surveys

Exit polls have been released following the conclusion of the last phase of elections. Observing the exit poll results for the Punjab elections, the Aam Aadmi Party appears to be sweeping the state with an impressive majority. Aam Aadmi Party is expected to replace Congress as Punjab’s number one party according to the Poll of Polls. Although, the SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal) and the BSP alliance (SAD-BSP) continue to rank third.

Please note that exit poll data are only estimates of election results. Various survey companies collect these data. The results of the assembly elections in these five states will be announced by the Election Commission on March 10.

On the basis of the Poll of Polls, it appears that Aam Aadmi Party will gain 59 to 75 seats in Punjab. Furthermore, the number of seats in Congress has been reduced to 24 to 32. As a result, only 2-6 seats are seen going to the BJP-PLC alliance, and the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance appears to be bringing 13-19 seats. A poll of polls shows that 1-3 seats were given to others.

Leaders’ reaction to exit poll results

While the Congress is contesting in Punjab on the basis of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the Aam Aadmi Party fielded Bhagwant Mann. The CM and Sunil Jakhar have emphasized that we should wait for the results on 10 March, following the disappointing performance of the Congress in the exit polls. Despite the exit poll results, AAP leader Raghav Chadha is optimistic that AAP is becoming a strong alternative to the Congress.

Punjab held elections on February 20

A single phase of elections was held in Punjab on February 20. About 72 percent of voters chose to exercise their franchise. The Legislative Assembly of Punjab consists of 117 members. A party will need 59 seats to form a government.

Who were the biggest names in the election?

In Amritsar East, Navjot Sidhu campaigned as Punjab Congress President. Furthermore, Charanjit Channi is also a candidate from Bhadaur, along with Chamkaur Sahib. In a surprise move, Dhuri has endorsed Bhagwant Mann for the AAP’s CM ticket. Amarinder Singh, who has resigned from the Congress, is running as an independent to fill the Patiala Urban seat. Sukhbir Badal, son of Parkash Singh Badal and chief of the SAD, is contesting the polls from Jalalabad this time around.
