Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister E.V.K.S. Elangovan took oath as MLA on Friday

After winning the by-election by a majority, veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister E.V.K.S. Elangovan were sworn in as the Erode East MLA today. According to a news source, M. Appavu, Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, administered the oath of office.

After his son passed away, the by-election was forced in Erode East. He suffered a heart arrest on January 4 and passed away. In the Erode East by-election, Elangovan defeated K.S. Thennarasu of the AIADMK by a margin of 66,087 votes.
