Former US President Donald Trump returns to Twitter, posts after 2.5 years

Donald Trump, a former US president, made a comeback on Thursday with a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). After a lengthy absence of almost 2.5 years, he has resumed tweeting.

In January 2021, Twitter permanently suspended Trump’s account, citing the potential for incitement and violence in the wake of the attack on the US Capitol. And in his first tweet, he shared his mugshot, or the photo he had taken after being let out of jail.

Let us inform you that on Thursday, Trump turned himself in to state authorities in connection with claims of criminal attempts to rescind his Georgia loss in the 2020 presidential election. The arrest process began shortly after Trump arrived in Atlanta at about 7 pm.

The president was released on bond for US$200,000 and was ordered not to use social media to intimidate witnesses.
