4.8 magnitude earthquake hits parts of Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo

Japan: Northeast of Tokyo, in Ibaraki Prefecture, there was a 4.8-magnitude earthquake, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency on Saturday.

The earthquake struck at 10:52 a.m. local time at a depth of 50 km, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), which was quoted by Xinhua news agency. According to the Japanese seismic intensity scale, it was rated as having a 4 intensity.

In Ibaraki, it was centered at 36.5 degrees north latitude and 140.8 degrees east longitude.
