Will Rohit Sharma perform in the next match against KKR? – Important Updates by Mahela Jayawardene

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya are both in good shape, according to Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mahela Jayawardene. Dubai International Stadium was the site of the match between Chennai Super Kings and the duo missed it. In Rohit’s absence, Kieron Pollard led the team, but MI lost by 20 runs.

MI head coach Jayawardene said; Rohit had been given some extra time to recover and would be available for their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rohit was batting and running, so we probably felt he needed extra few days after returning from the UK, so he should be fine for the next game. A niggle occurred during training so Hardik had extra days, not something serious,” said Mahela Jayawardene during a virtual press conference.

Considering Mumbai Indians batting, Jayawardene said: “We struggled in Chennai in the first half because we weren’t used to the conditions. In this case, also, it wasn’t the easiest wicket but probably required some application. As a result of taking responsibility and being aware of the game, I was successful.

CSK bowler Deepak Chahar took two wickets and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took three. Saurabh Tiwary had the highest score for MI with 50 runs. Mumbai is now at risk of falling out of the top 4 if they continue to lose. Chennai Super Kings are now at the peak of the table.

“Actually, I thought the pitch wasn’t doing much, but the wicket was pretty good in the second innings. The odd one sat up a little bit. We gave a couple of soft dismissals, but someone should have taken responsibility and batted through the innings, which we didn’t. It was Ruturaj Gaikwad who did that for CSK,” Mahela Jayawardene said.

The set batsman stayed in till the end, even though they lost wickets. “We are disappointed with our handling of the situation,” he said. MS Dhoni’s side posted 156/6 in the allotted twenty overs after being 24/4 in the powerplay following Gaikwad’s unbeaten 88-run innings. The Mumbai Indians will face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday.

Wife Anushka Sharma reacts after Virat Kohli declares the decision to quit as T20I captain

The Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli, announced on Thursday that he will resign following the conclusion of the men’s T20 World Cup in October in Oman and the UAE. Since he has been leading India across all three formats for the past five to six years, Virat Kohli has taken this step in an effort to manage his workload.

“Virat Kohli will continue to play all three formats,” he said, and will contribute in T20s despite playing all three formats for “at least 8-9 years.”

Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma reacted to his announcement on Twitter that he will step down as T20 captain of the Indian cricket team. She has been with her husband on his international tours since June and will be present during the T20 World Cup in October.

He thanked everyone on Thursday via his official Twitter account for their support throughout his journey as Indian captain across all formats. Additionally, he stated that he will continue to contribute to the team as a batsman and as the T20I captain.

“I have been fortunate enough to not only represent India but also lead the Indian Cricket Team to my utmost capability. I couldn`t have done it without them – the boys, the support staff, the selection committee, my coaches and each and every Indian who prayed for us to win,” said Kohli in his statement.

Virat Kohli said that he would continue to lead the team in both Tests and ODIs. “Understanding workload is a very important thing and considering my immense workload over the last 8-9 years playing all three formats and captaining regularly for last 5-6 years, I feel I need to give myself space to be fully ready to lead the Indian Team in Test and ODI Cricket. I have given everything to the Team during my time as T20 Captain and I will continue to do so for the T20 Team as a batsman moving forward.”

Kohli became the captain of India in all formats in the 2017 series against England in which he made his T20I captaincy debut. In 45 T20Is, Kohli led India to 27 wins and 14 losses, with two matches tied and two endings in a no-result, making him India’s second most successful skipper behind MS Dhoni in the format. In 2018, Kohli became the first Indian captain with T20I bilateral series wins in South Africa (2-1) and England (2-1), followed by New Zealand (5-0) and Australia (2-1).

I have also spoken to the secretary Mr Jay Shah and the President of BCCI Mr Sourav Ganguly along with all the selectors about the same.
