The 21-year-old England batsman has decided to leave first-class cricket. This batsman is Will Smeed. In order to focus on limited-overs cricket, Smeed has taken this decision. This news has once again proved that the focus of many players is now on limited overs rather than on Tests.

Smeed has signed a white ball contract with county team Somerset. Smeed will now only play ODIs and T20 matches for this county under the terms of this agreement. Smeed, a young batsman for England, made his England Lions debut earlier this year.

He impressed a lot while playing for Somerset in the last three seasons of the T20 Blast. While playing for Birmingham Phoenix, he scored a century, becoming the first player in this tournament to do so.

Scored a century at the age of 16

At the age of 16, Smeed made his debut in the spotlight by scoring a century in first-class cricket. That too against the team captained by former England captain Marcus Trescothick. He scored this century for Somerset’s second-division team against Sussex’s second-division team. But he never participated in a first-class match. In his share, he only has one List-A match. He has taken part in 55 T20 games concurrently.

England cricket team’s current ODI and T20 team captain Eoin Morgan can announce his retirement soon. Such news is going on by quoting many media reports. It is also being said that after Morgan, the command of England’s team in white ball cricket can be handed over to Moeen Ali or Jos Buttler. However, no clarification has come from Morgan’s side on this yet. But recently in an interview before the Netherlands series, he had definitely indicated it.

Before the Netherlands ODI series, Eoin Morgan said, ‘If I don’t feel able to contribute to the team, then I will retire.’ Morgan’s age also increases. And for some time now his individual performance is proving to be zero. He was not even bought for IPL 2022. While under his captaincy, KKR became the runner-up in 2021. The team is winning under his captaincy but he seems to be struggling.

During his last two matches against the Netherlands, he was unable to open the account. Due to a groin injury, he was unable to participate in the last match.

He also has 700 runs to his name in 16 test matches. In IPL too, Morgan has scored 1405 runs in 83 matches.
