Mumbai is in big trouble due to heavy rains, many train services suspended and holidays declared in schools

Mumbai, the nation’s financial hub, is currently dealing with a severe rainstorm problem. People’s lives have been interrupted by the situation in Mumbai, which has turned into something akin to a flood.

The train and other transportation to Mumbai have been impacted by this heavy rain. Due to continuous rain throughout the night and in the morning, LBS Road in Kurla was waterlogged.

The Central Railway announced that train services on the main line down and up the rapid line between CSMT and Thane have been suspended due to waterlogging at several locations. Life has been disrupted by waterlogging in low-lying regions of Kalyan, Dombivali, Ulhasnagar, Badlapur, Ambarnath, and rural Thane due to heavy rainfall. Due to waterlogging on the tracks, local trains in Mumbai are running late, which is inconveniencing the passengers.

The University of Mumbai has announced that the CDOE (previously IDOL) exams scheduled on July 8, 2024, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, have been postponed due to the severe rains. These tests will now take place on July 13, 2024.

In all BMC, government, and private schools and colleges in Mumbai (BMC region), a holiday has been proclaimed for the first term to prevent disruption to the students. Once the circumstances have been examined, the decision for the upcoming term will be made public.

IMD issues yellow alert for Thane, and other districts of Maharashtra including Mumbai

Maharashtra Weather Updates: The past three to four days have seen rain in Maharashtra. Heavy rains have also been falling in Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. Since Friday morning, it has been raining in many of the state’s districts. IMD officials have issued yellow alerts for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigarh, and other districts in Maharashtra.

The Meteorological Department has provided information indicating that Mumbai and Thane should expect moderate to heavy rain over the next two to three hours. Once again, the monsoon has been active over the west coast, including the Konkan, and today is predicted to bring significant rain in some parts.

Since this morning, it has been fiercely raining in Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai suburbs. Since the last few days, the rain has decreased. Mumbaikars will again enjoy a respite from the heat today as a result.
