At international airports and seaports, samples of travelers arriving in India from overseas were collected. 124 travelers who were discovered to be corona infected have been isolated throughout the inquiry.

According to government sources, 40 of the 124 positive infections have had their genomes sequenced. Of them, 14 samples of the XBB.1 substrain of Omicron were discovered. One at the same time, BF.7.4.1 was discovered.

There were eight new Omicron cases reported in Maharashtra on Tuesday. 7 cases have been registered in Mumbai, while one case has been reported in Vasai Virar on the outskirts of the city. Maharashtra now has 28 cases of the Omicron variant and India has 57. According to the information, of the 28 cases in Maharashtra, 12 are from Mumbai, 10 are from Pimpri Chinchwad, two are from Pune, and one each is from Kalyan Dombivli, Nagpur, Latur, and Vasai Virar. In the last 24 hours, 9 patients have been cured and discharged from the hospital after contracting Omicron.

The Omicron virus has been detected in five states and two union territories (Delhi and Chandigarh) besides Maharashtra. As well as Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Delhi, infections have been reported. Cases have also been registered in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Chandigarh.
