The country’s largest production house Yash Raj Films is contemplating bringing its own YRF OTT service as a part of the ongoing negotiations for the OTT rights of some upcoming films.

Yash Raj Films, which is expanding its business and developing numerous under-construction films, is investing approximately Rs 1200 crore. With an investment of approximately Rs 500 crore, the company will make web series and TV shows again. Management of the company supports the plan.
Many companies have been granted OTT rights to Yash Raj Films’ old films. Yash Raj Films is also expected to offer these films on their own OTT platform after the completion of these deals.
Yash Chopra, brother of BR Films owner Baldev Raj (BR) Chopra, and Rajesh Khanna formed Yash Raj Films in 1970, after much buzz, applause and fame as a director. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the film company, the production house started several films one after another with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan. Among them, ‘Pathan’, ‘Tiger 3’ and ‘Maharaja’ are currently under construction.
A sequel to Bunty Aur Babli, the company’s hit film, will be released next week. After this film, three more films will be produced by Yash Raj Films. The company will release three films simultaneously in the first three months of next year: ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, and ‘Shamshera’.
Additionally, Yash Raj Films has reportedly agreed to a deal with a major streaming service regarding these films. The company hasn’t stated anything officially on the matter yet.
In addition, Yash Raj Films can make an official announcement from the company at any time about its OTT service. However, sources reveal that this OTT will mainly concentrate on web series focusing on Indian sensibilities. About 500 crore rupees have been invested in this project over the last two years by Yash Raj Films.
YRF Entertainment has been named the OTT arm of the company. It has been reported that Yash Raj Films had controversies regarding their OTT rights prior to this series.
According to a source close to the project, Aditya Chopra intends to make India a leader in digital content production. He wants desi (Indian) stories to match the standards and vision of global storytelling. The scripts are generated locally in YRF. The OTT space may be forever changed by this move. YRF is working on its strategy and will announce it shortly.
