Uttarakhand might soon follow Goa as the second state in the nation to adopt the Uniform Civil Code. The Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly met on Monday and agreed to postpone today’s Zero Hour and Question Hour in light of this significant bill.

The bill will be introduced and discussion on it will start as soon as the House starts its session. The Select Committee’s report on providing the state agitators with a 10% horizontal reservation in government services will also be tabled in the House today.

To prepare the document, a special committee was established. Over 20 months, the committee engaged with different religious organizations, civic associations, political parties, and the general public to create a draft of the code. On February 2, the committee gave the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami this 740-page draft, which was divided into four volumes.
