India recorded the lowest number of new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours

On Tuesday, India recorded 18,795 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest number in 201 days. According to the latest data from the Union health ministry, the country has now been infected by 3,36,97,581 cases of Covid-19.

The death toll from Covid-19 has now reached 4,47,373, thanks to 179 additional victims in the last 24 hours. It is the lowest in 193 days, according to the most recent data from the ministry. On March 19, 154 people died each day.

Kerala is home to 58 fatalities while Maharashtra accounts for 32. Since March 2020, there have been 2,92,206 Covid-19 cases in the country, representing 0.87 percent of all cases. Meanwhile, the national recovery rate is recorded at 97.81 percent, a record high since March each year, the ministry says.

Over the past 24 hours, there were 7,414 fewer active cases in the Covid-19 database. The ministry reported that 93 consecutive days have passed with fewer than 50,000 cases reported daily.

Among the tests conducted on Monday were 13,21,780 for detection of the infection, bringing the total to 56,57,30,031 across the country.

During the day, the positivity rate was reported as 1.42 percent. The last 29 days have seen it at less than 3%. 1.88% of the population was positive on a weekly basis.

In the last 95 days, the rate has been below 3 percent, according to the ministry.

Over one crore vaccine doses have been administered during the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive, exceeding the 87 crore doses that have been administered so far.
