Guwahati-bound IndiGo flight lands in Dhaka due to bad weather

Silchar: An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Assam’s Guwahati had to make an emergency landing in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka at 4 am on Saturday amid poor visibility, individuals with knowledge of the matter said.

Due to severe fog, IndiGo aircraft 6E 5319 was unable to land at the well-known Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and was diverted to nearby Dhaka, some 400 kilometers from Guwahati.

According to the aforementioned sources, the crew chose to divert the aircraft to Dhaka after the pilots were unable to land the aircraft at Guwahati airport due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

Indian Railways cancels Mitali Express service to Dhaka due to Eid festival in Bangladesh

Due to the Bangladeshi Eid festival, Indian Railways has decided to temporarily halt the Mitali Express (13132/131131) service between New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and Dhaka Cantonment in Bangladesh.

As a result, the New Jalpaiguri to Dhaka Mitali Express route would stay cancelled beginning on June 25, June 28, and July 2, 2023.

The Dhaka to New Jalpaiguri Mitali Express train trip, scheduled to begin on June 26, June 29, and July 3, 2023, will remain cancelled. After Bangladesh’s Eid festival is ended, Mitali Express will shortly resume its regular runs.

Strong tremors felt in Bangladesh, 4.3 magnitude earthquake

Around six in the morning on Friday, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, experienced strong earthquake tremors. On the Richter scale, it registered as having a 4.9 intensity.

The earthquake’s epicenter was only a few kilometers from Dhaka. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale and had its epicenter 10 km beneath the surface of the Earth, close to Dohar Upazila in the Dhaka Division.
