Election Commission ordered deployment of 100 CAPF companies for West Bengal Lok Sabha elections

The Election Commission of India has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to deploy 100 more companies of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) in West Bengal to conduct free and fair Lok Sabha elections.

Based on ECI, the Home Ministry is deploying 45 companies of Border Security troops and 55 companies of the CRPF. According to ANI news, officials have been ordered to complete deploying an additional 100 CAPF companies in West Bengal by April 15th at the latest.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred 8 District Magistrates (DMs) and 12 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to five states Assam, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh.

According to a press release from the Election Commission, this decision was made as part of a routine review at a meeting with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

It has been requested that all transferred officers promptly turn over control to their junior officers. The Commission further declared that till the Lok Sabha elections are over, the resigning officers will not be assigned any election-related duties. The Commission has been instructed to receive a list of names from the state governments of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officials. The officers who make up the “shortlist” will be appointed to replace the transferred officers.

SBI filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court in the electoral bond case, 22,217 electoral bonds purchased since 2019

Electoral Bonds Case: In the electoral bond case, the State Bank of India (SBI) has submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court. In an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court, the Chairman of SBI stated that 22,217 electoral bonds had been bought between April 1, 2019, and February 15, 2024.

The chairman of the SBI informed the Supreme Court that the Election Commission has received information regarding donations made through electoral bonds by the order. Additionally, the Election Commission now has access to the date on which electoral bonds can be redeemed as well as the identities of the political parties that have received donations.

The affidavit also states that, in observance of the aforementioned directives, the Election Commission of India (ECI) was sent a digital copy of this data, password-protected, before the close of business hours on March 12, 2024. (i) By instruction No. (b), the date of purchase of every electoral bond, the buyer’s name, and the denomination of the bond are provided. The date of encashment, the electoral bonds, the names of the political parties that have received contributions, and the denomination of the bonds, following the instruction number. (c).

Assembly election dates in Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya announced, results to be declared on March 2

By conducting a news conference today, the Election Commission revealed the dates for the next legislative elections in Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya. In these three states, there are 60 seats in the assembly.

According to Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar’s declaration, the elections in Tripura will take place on February 16. Elections will be held in Nagaland and Meghalaya on February 27. Voting will take place in a single phase in each of these states

Tripura’s legislative elections will take place on February 16.
The Meghalayan assembly elections are scheduled on February 27.
February 27 will be the date of the Nagaland assembly elections.

BJP is in power in all these three states

BJP officials hold positions of authority in all three states. Tripura is now under BJP’s sole control, however, this time around, the Left and Congress’s coalition presents the largest threat to the BJP. Election rally banned till 15

Parties will be able to campaign in a digital, virtual way. Any kind of foot journey, show, cycle, or bike rally will be completely banned. After January 15, there will be no physical rally in any way.
