Meta Introduces AI-Powered User Accounts

Tech giant Meta is reportedly gearing up to introduce advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) bots on its flagship social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram. This move signals Meta’s growing commitment to enhancing user experience through AI-powered innovation.

According to a report by the Financial Times, Meta has already integrated various AI-driven features into its platforms and is now preparing to take a significant step forward by rolling out AI-powered user accounts. These accounts will mimic human profiles, complete with bios and profile pictures, while also possessing the ability to generate and share content.

“We expect these AIs to, over time, exist on our platforms, kind of in the same way that accounts do,” said Connor Hayes, Meta’s Vice President of Product for Generative AI, during an interview. Hayes elaborated that these AI bots are designed to seamlessly blend into the social media ecosystem, offering users a new dimension of interaction. “They’ll have bios and profile pictures and be able to generate and share content powered by AI on the platform,” he added.

This initiative is part of Meta’s broader strategy to boost user engagement by leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies. In July 2024, the company introduced AI Studio, a tool empowering users to create, customize, and share personalized AI chatbots. Additionally, Meta launched “Movie Gen,” an AI feature capable of producing videos up to 16 seconds long based on a simple text prompt, with the option to include up to 45 seconds of accompanying audio.
