Prior to the Delhi mayoral elections, which will take place on April 26, the Aam Aadmi Party has experienced a significant setback. On Monday, Sunita, a councillor for the Aam Aadmi Party from Delhi’s Ward 130 Dwarka C, allied herself with the BJP.

Additionally, the Lieutenant Governor’s office can currently pick the name of the presiding officer. The Kejriwal administration offered Mukesh Goyal as a possible option for the presiding officer.

In Delhi, the LG has the authority to select the person who will preside over the election for mayor and deputy mayor. Any councillor may be chosen by him to serve as the presiding officer. Except for the election candidate, any corporator may serve as the presiding officer.
