As of Sunday, April 10th, private vaccination centers will offer COVID-19 Precaution Booster Dose for adults over 18 years of age. The information has been provided by the Union Health Ministry. In a statement, the center stated that those over 18 years of age, who have completed 9 months after receiving the second dose of vaccine, will be eligible for a precaution dose at a private vaccination center.

“The decision has been made to provide precaution doses of COVID vaccine to the population of 18+ at private vaccination centers. Vaccination for adults 18 and older will be available through private vaccination starting on 10th April (Sunday), 2022. The precaution dose is available to all individuals over the age of 18 who have completed the second dose in the past 9 months,” according to the Union Health Ministry.
As part of government vaccination centers, the free delivery of first, second, and precaution doses to health workers, front-line workers, and those over 60 years old will continue and will be accelerated.
The national-level COVID-19 vaccination rate is about 96 percent among people 15 and older, with about 83 percent receiving both doses.
A decision has been taken to offer a booster dose to all adults in India 18+ at a time when many Indians are finding it difficult to travel abroad without a third dose due to heightened infection levels in many countries.
Despite concerns about new mutants of the Coronavirus, including the XE variant, infections in India have dropped to the lowest level in more than a year. The cost of a precautionary dose of the Covishield vaccine is Rs 600 per shot.
The Serum Institute of India announces the precautionary dose of its Covidhield vaccine will cost Rs 600 per shot for eligible recipients.
