To simplify and hasten the process of police verification for passport issuing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday released the “mPassport Police App.”

On Thursday, 350 mobile tablets were presented by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the Delhi Police’s Special Branch officers in honor of the force’s Raising Day.

According to a Friday press release from the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Delhi, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these gadgets would now allow the entire process of police verification and submission of reports to be paperless.

Abhishek Dubey, the regional passport officer in Delhi, said in a release that using a tablet will cut the verification time from 15 days to five days, bringing down the total time required to issue a passport to ten days.
