Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed appointment letters to more than 71,000 newly recruited employees today, 23 December, via video conferencing. This event, called the Rozgar Mela, reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to prioritizing job creation and addressing unemployment. The ceremony took place simultaneously in 45 locations across the country.
These recruits, selected from various regions, will work in several key government ministries and departments, such as the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Department of Financial Services.
Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the inclusive nature of the recruitment process. Out of the 71,000 appointments, 20,901 (29.21%) positions were allocated by candidates from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. Additionally, 11,355 (15.8%) jobs were allocated to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and 6,862 (9.59%) to the Scheduled Tribes (ST).

However, from 2014 to 2024, this number grew significantly, reaching approximately 11 lakh—a remarkable increase of 60 to 70 percent.
