Big relief to Canada after diplomatic dispute, India resumes e-Visa services for Canadian citizens

India started offering Canadian citizens e-Visa services again on Wednesday. After an almost two-month break, the Indian government has started providing electronic visa services for nationals of Canada.

Due to rising tensions between India and Canada as well as diplomatic expulsions from both nations, India suspended its visa program in Canada earlier in September, citing “operational reasons.”

We would like to inform you that visa services were halted on September 21 due to an ongoing diplomatic disagreement over Canada’s assertions that “agents of the Indian government” were responsible for the June death of Canadian citizen and Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India’s big decision after controversy over Canada, India bans visas

Relations between the two nations have been harmed by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s recent remarks regarding the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Travel advisories were issued by Canada for travelers going to India, and India retaliated accordingly.

Visa services for Canadians have been suspended by the Ministry of External Affairs. This suspension will stay in effect until further orders, according to what was communicated.

On the website of Indian Visa Services in Canada, a notice has been posted. In a notification placed on its website, BLS International, an online visa application center that processes applications from India and other nations, stated: “For operational reasons, Indian visa services are suspended from September 21, 2023, until further notice.” Please check the BLS website frequently for new changes.
