President Election 2022: Yashwant Sinha will be the candidate from the opposition in the presidential election in 2022. Its formal announcement will be made at 2:30 pm. According to sources, Yashwant Sinha’s name was approved in the meeting of opposition parties held at NCP chief Sharad’s residence in Delhi on Tuesday.
A former Union Finance Minister and External Affairs Minister in the NDA government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Yashwant Sinha served in two different capacities. In 2021, he joined the Trinamool Congress after leaving the BJP in 2018. After the assembly elections last year, he became the party’s national vice president.
Yashwant Sinha reacted
Yashwant Sinha has reacted after being made the presidential candidate. He tweeted that I am grateful to Mamta ji for the respect and prestige she gave me in TMC. It’s time to work outside the party for greater opposition unity for a bigger national cause…
These three veterans turned down the offer
Trinamool Congress had organized an opposition gathering in Delhi on June 15, at which Sharad Pawar’s name was unanimously recommended as the opposition candidate. Pawar, on the other hand, declined the offer.
Mamata Banerjee then suggested Farooq Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, and Gopal Krishna Gandhi, the former governor of West Bengal. Abdullah and Gopal Krishna, on the other hand, declined the offer.
