7.3 magnitude earthquake hits Indonesia

Indonesia has once again been issued a tsunami warning. The warning has been issued after an earthquake of 7.3 magnitude struck East Nusa Tenggara. The Meteorological Department expressed concern about a tsunami in its announcement. According to the European Mediterranean Seismology Center, this earthquake had a magnitude of 7.7.

A death or property loss has not yet been reported as a result of this earthquake. The US Geological Survey estimates the earthquake’s magnitude to be 7.3. After the earthquake on Flores Island, people fled their homes because of fear, says a resident of Maumere Town.

At a depth of 12 km, the epicenter of this quake was located 112 km northwest of Larantuka, on Flores Island’s eastern side. Almost all of Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Southeast, and South Sulawesi have been placed under tsunami warning since it arrived.

According to information, the first tremors of the earthquake in Larantuka were followed by aftershocks. The aftershock had a magnitude of 5.6. There have been no reports of damage following this earthquake.
