96 countries accept India's Covid vaccination certificates

India and 96 other countries have agreed to acknowledge each other’s Covid-19 vaccination certificates, Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, said in a statement on Tuesday.

The United Kingdom has also announced that India’s Covaxin will be added to its list of approved Covid-19 vaccines for entry of international passengers into the country without requiring them to self-isolate upon arrival. Changes will be implemented at 4 am on November 22.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Union health ministry said, “At present, 96 countries have agreed to recognize the vaccination certificates of travelers fully vaccinated with COVISHIELD/WHO approved/nationally approved vaccines. As a result, people from these countries may be granted certain relaxations as outlined in the Union Health Ministry’s Guidelines on International Arrivals…”

“The Union Government is in constant communication with the rest of the world so that beneficiaries of the world’s largest COVID vaccination program may be accepted and recognized, thereby facilitating travel for education, business, and tourism,” the statement said.

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with the Ministry of External Affairs is continuously in communication with all countries for mutual recognition of vaccination certificates so that international travelers can travel hassle-free between countries, the ministry said.
