Cruise co-founder and CEO Kyle Vogt resigns

The serial entrepreneur Kyle Vogt, who co-founded Cruise and oversaw its growth from a garage startup to General Motors’ acquisition and control, has stepped down. In 2013, Vogt launched Cruise.

Mo Elshenawy, the executive vice president of engineering at Cruise, will take over as president and chief technology officer of Cruise, according to a separate internal email released by GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra. Craig Glidden, a member of the Cruise board and executive vice president of law and policy at GM, was recently appointed chief administrative officer of Cruise and will remain in that capacity.

GM board member Jon McNeill has been named vice chairman of the Cruise board. McNeill, a recent addition to the Cruise board who served as president of Tesla and chief operating officer of Lyft, will now report to Cruise Board Chair Mary Barra.
