The budget airline SpiceJet has written to the Bengal government to ask for the flight’s restriction to be lifted, which is currently three days a week.
In a letter to the state government, the airlines requested approval to operate daily flights from Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Pune to Bengal (Calcutta, Bagdogra, Andal).
“At present, flights are permitted only three days a week (on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), and passengers have to take a via flight/connection on other days to get to West Bengal. Flight operations from the above-listed cities will benefit passengers and reduce travel time to destination,” according to the letter.
As a result, the airline will operate daily flights at a time when the government has allowed airlines to run 100 percent of their scheduled capacity beginning October 18, removing a key restriction imposed when domestic flight operations resumed in May 2020 following a two-month lockdown.
However, restrictions on fares bands remain in place, and a decision will likely be made soon regarding them as well.
In September, the domestic passenger volume in the country rose to 70.66 lakh – compared with 39.43 lakh in the same month of 2020. This was largely due to improved vaccinations, easing of travel restrictions, and a robust demand during the holiday season.
On October 17, the domestic air traffic reached its highest level of 327, 923 in a single day.

ZTE’s Grand S Flex, Grand X Quad V987, and ZTE Grand Memo, as well as the ZTE V956, and Grand X Quad V987 will stop supporting WhatsApp.
Sony’s Xperia Miro, Sony Xperia Neo L, and Xperia Arc S are included in the list, alongside other devices from Alcatel, HTC, Lenovo, and more.
Huawei’s Ascend G740, Ascend Mate, Ascend D Quad XL, Ascend D1 Quad XL, Ascend P1 S, and Ascend D2 will cease to support the Facebook messaging app.

According to official sources in Colombo and New Delhi, Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group chosen to develop a major port terminal project in Sri Lanka, will meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Colombo on Monday, 25 October.
According to a senior official, Mr. Adani would be meeting the President to discuss the West Container Terminal project during the private visit on Sunday night (24) night.

Adani’s visit comes less than a month after the Adani Group, in a virtual ceremony, signed a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement with its Sri Lankan partner in the project John Keells Holdings, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), to jointly develop the West Container Terminal (WCT) at the Colombo Port.
The Hindu reported that Adani is interested in collaborating on ports, power, and renewable energy projects in Sri Lanka, according to sources in India familiar with the development.
“When Adani meets President Rajapaksa, he will discuss possible projects in these sectors,” a source told The Hindu.
Sri Lanka’s decision early this year to scrap a trilateral agreement with India and Japan to jointly develop the East Container Terminal at the Colombo Port sparked controversy, so the Rajapaksa government offered the WCT project as “a compromise”.
According to The Hindu, unlike the earlier ECT project, there is no Indian government involvement in the WCT project, with the Adani Group participating as a private investor, amid questions from Sri Lankan experts regarding the lack of transparency surrounding how the investor was selected.

The Orion spacecraft was successfully secured atop the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket shortly before midnight on October 21 at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the US space agency said in a statement.

“With the stacking and integration of NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft complete, we’re getting closer and closer to embarking on a new era of human deep space exploration,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, in the statement.
“Thanks to the team’s hard work designing, manufacturing, testing, and now completing assembly of NASA’s new rocket and spacecraft, we’re in the home stretch of preparations for the first launch on the Artemis I mission, paving the way to explore the Moon, Mars, and beyond for many years to come,” he added.
A future Artemis I mission will pave the way for a crewed flight test before NASA establishes a regular schedule of more complex missions with astronauts on the Moon and around it under Artemis.

Amit Shah, who is on his way to Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday, will inaugurate the first direct flight between Srinagar and Sharjah and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Additionally, brick kilns within eight kilometers of the airport were discussed at the meeting and the spokesman said other concerns included alternative approach roads.
