The BJP effectively swept the field of the opposition parties in the Gujarat assembly elections by winning by a landslide margin. The BJP will now have a significant edge in the Rajya Sabha thanks to Gujarat’s historic victory and large majority.
PM Narendra Modi said that the people of Gujarat have made a record even in breaking records. Gujarat’s citizens have made new history by delivering the BJP the largest mandate in the state’s history.

With these outcomes, the BJP will set a new record in Gujarat and the Rajya Sabha. In fact, the results from Thursday have given the BJP such a solid basis in the Upper House of Parliament that shortly all 11 of Gujarat’s Rajya Sabha representatives will be from the party.

In the elections to be conducted in April 2024 and June 2026, respectively, the BJP will gain two more seats out of the four available seats, bringing its total number of Rajya Sabha MPs in Gujarat to 11.
Even if the states with only one Rajya Sabha MP are eliminated, the five states with a single party now holding every seat in the Rajya Sabha are Himachal, Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, and Uttarakhand.
