Will Rohit Sharma perform in the next match against KKR? – Important Updates by Mahela Jayawardene

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya are both in good shape, according to Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mahela Jayawardene. Dubai International Stadium was the site of the match between Chennai Super Kings and the duo missed it. In Rohit’s absence, Kieron Pollard led the team, but MI lost by 20 runs.

MI head coach Jayawardene said; Rohit had been given some extra time to recover and would be available for their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

“Rohit was batting and running, so we probably felt he needed extra few days after returning from the UK, so he should be fine for the next game. A niggle occurred during training so Hardik had extra days, not something serious,” said Mahela Jayawardene during a virtual press conference.

Considering Mumbai Indians batting, Jayawardene said: “We struggled in Chennai in the first half because we weren’t used to the conditions. In this case, also, it wasn’t the easiest wicket but probably required some application. As a result of taking responsibility and being aware of the game, I was successful.

CSK bowler Deepak Chahar took two wickets and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took three. Saurabh Tiwary had the highest score for MI with 50 runs. Mumbai is now at risk of falling out of the top 4 if they continue to lose. Chennai Super Kings are now at the peak of the table.

“Actually, I thought the pitch wasn’t doing much, but the wicket was pretty good in the second innings. The odd one sat up a little bit. We gave a couple of soft dismissals, but someone should have taken responsibility and batted through the innings, which we didn’t. It was Ruturaj Gaikwad who did that for CSK,” Mahela Jayawardene said.

The set batsman stayed in till the end, even though they lost wickets. “We are disappointed with our handling of the situation,” he said. MS Dhoni’s side posted 156/6 in the allotted twenty overs after being 24/4 in the powerplay following Gaikwad’s unbeaten 88-run innings. The Mumbai Indians will face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday.

India’s weekly Covid-19 cases have dropped 15% in the last six months

This is the lowest Covid-19 cases count in more than six months in India, a 15% drop in the week preceding Sunday.

More than 2.14 lakh new cases occurred during this week (September 13-19), down from 2.51 lakh the previous week. Since March 8-14 (for the week ending Sunday), there have been the fewest cases reported in 27 weeks.

A significant decline in Covid numbers was recorded for the second week in a row. In the previous week, cases in the country dropped by 13%, while the past seven days saw a drop of just 0.6%.

Kerala recorded 62% of all infections across the country last week, down sharply from the previous week. Kerala reported 1.33 lakh new cases, down 20.6% from the previous week’s tally of over 1.67 lakh. The weekly case count in Kerala had exceeded 2 lakh two weeks ago as the tide of pandemics in Kerala crested.

During the past week, Maharashtra saw a decline in cases, while Mizoram and Tamil Nadu recorded increases. Over the past week, there have been 2,315 deaths in India caused by the virus, an increase of 10% compared to the previous week.

In India, new cases were reported on Sunday of 30,814 – nearly as many as on Saturday (31,242) – while Kerala reported 19,653 new cases. A total of 19,352 cases were reported in the state the day before. 295 people died as a result of the virus in Kerala, 49 in Maharashtra, 27 in Tamil Nadu, 16 in Karnataka, and 11 in Bengal.

Indian Army Celebrates ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ in Jaipur to Honor Soldiers of 1971

The Indian Army in Jaipur has marked the 50th anniversary of the 1971 Indo-Pak War with a day of remembrance called Swarnim Vijay Varsh, which celebrated the victory. A motorcycle stunt show and an air show were performed by Army personnel. A defence weapons exhibition was held at the Chitrakot Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, hosted by the Indian Army’s South Western Command.

Swarnim Vijay Varsh remembered the bravery of Indian soldiers who defended the country during the 1971 war as well as the selfless sacrifices they made.

An Indian army official commented on the exhibition held in Jaipur, “We displayed the defence equipment on display to make people aware of what the Indian army has achieved. By showcasing these types of equipment, we hope to motivate the youth.”

Officials emphasized that every citizen should be aware of the 1971 war, as all Indians remember the victory over Pakistan.
