A list of nominees for the year 2022 has been released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organises the Oscars every year.

A total of 397 distinguished artists and executives have been invited to become members of the Academy in 2022. A total of 71 Oscars have been nominated by the 397 artists, including 15 Oscar winners. The official announcement stated that memberships are selected based on professional qualifications.
The Academy invites famous personalities from different backgrounds from India. Several performers, including Kajol from My Name Is Khan and Suriya from Jai Bhim, have been invited. In the documentary category Oscar candidates Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas were also invited.
Reema Kagti has also been invited to join the prestigious organization. She has written for movies like Gully Boy, Made in Heaven, and Dil Dhadakne Do among others. Along with PR and marketing expert Sohini Sengupta, the list also includes producer Aditya Sood, an Indian-American who has contributed to films like The Martian and Deadpool.

Along with the Indian performers, invites have also been extended to Anya Taylor-Joy from The Queen’s Gambit, Billie Eilish, Jamie Dornan, and Troy Kotsur, an award-winning Coda actor.
