Last month, Shruthi Cauvery Iyer won the Mrs. India Universe beauty pageant in Gurugram. Now that the contest for Mrs. Universe starts in Seoul this October, she will have the chance to display her talents internationally.
Shruthi entered the pageant without previous experience in modeling, walking the ramp, or the beauty pageant. The costume she wore for Mrs Intelligence inspired by Coorg won Best National Costume.
Ayessha Wadiwala, last year’s winner, and Mrs India Universe 2016 Lakshmi Seshadri are friends. It all ended up in a win for her after she was encouraged to participate. Her main motivation for entering the pageant is its focus on fighting domestic violence, a cause she is passionate about.
It’s not just beauty or the pageant that defines Shruthi. Additionally, she is a serial entrepreneur who is the mother of two – Her business ventures include commodities in Indonesia and Hong Kong and a skincare startup in Boston. After returning to India in 2016, Sachindra Rudra and I launched CaHa Capital, an impact and advisory firm in 2019.
Shruthi Cauvery Iyer graduated from Wharton School with a degree in environmental engineering, then she pursued a Masters of Public Administration at Harvard.
Blend8 was launched by Shruthi and Wharton’s Dean of Innovation. During COVID-19, CaHa Capital had a few good clients and more en route to the table. Despite the growth of the startup ecosystem in India, Shruthi admits it wasn’t as mature when she moved back to India in 2016.
