In the upcoming Tests, Rohit Sharma is a strong contender to lead Team India. In the wake of the 1-2 loss in the Test series against South Africa, Virat Kohli resigned from the Test captaincy. As part of their home schedule in February and March, India plays a Test and T20 series against Sri Lanka (India vs Sri Lanka). For the Test series, however, it is difficult to get four senior players in the team, including former vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. All of them have failed to perform well. Inside Sports reports that in addition to Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, fast bowler Ishant Sharma and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha will not make the Test team. According to a BCCI official, “The selectors are looking for some new faces. Players have been notified individually by the selectors. The decision was taken after talking to coach Rahul Dravid and some members of team management.”
The future will depend on Ranji’s performance
Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have not performed well in Tests for the last two years. As per his board’s request, he must get the form in Ranji Trophy. The players are playing in a first-class tournament for their state team. His performance here will determine his future. Ishant Sharma and Saha are having a great time playing games together.
