Andhra Pradesh Train Accident Updates: There have been 54 injuries and 13 confirmed deaths as a result of the train accident that happened on Sunday night in the Andhra Pradesh district of Vizianagaram. Every wounded person has been admitted to the hospital.

The Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train and the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train collided close to Kantakappalli Junction in the Kothavalasa division (block), causing at least two of the carriages to derail. Many trains on this route have been canceled by Railways following the accident, and many more are now operating via detours.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the PMNRF has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each person killed in the train derailment accident. The injured will receive Rs 50,000. According to the PMO, PM Modi assessed the situation and spoke with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav as well.
