Spotify users can now share music, and podcasts on BeReal

The French photo-sharing app BeReal and the music streaming service Spotify have announced their integration, which will let users share music and podcasts in their BeReal posts.

“This integration within the BeReal platform is something we’re proud of. Spotify said in a blog post: “We’re always looking for innovative ways to make Spotify accessible to more people and to let fans, artists, and communities connect through audio globally.

As this experience rolls out, customers of BeReal and Spotify in a few areas (including Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and the US) can access it on their Android and iOS devices.

These Apple iPhones and iPads may get iOS 17 software updates, check the lists

OpenAI’s ChatGPT banned in Italy due to privacy issues

Since its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT has been used by millions of users. ChatGPT, OpenAI’s generative AI chatbot, is being geoblocked in Italy.

The model, developed by US start-up OpenAI and supported by Microsoft, raised privacy issues, according to the Italian data protection authorities.

With “immediate effect,” the agency said it will forbid OpenAI and launch an investigation.

OpenAI writes that it “regrets” to advise users that it has restricted access to users in Italy — at the “request” of the data protection regulator, known as the Garante — in a statement that appears online to users with an Italian IP address who try to access ChatGPT.

Google announced to invite applications for seventh batch of its startup accelerator program in India

The tech behemoth Google said on Monday that it would be accepting applications for the seventh batch of its startup accelerator program in India. This program is designed to support entrepreneurs that want to take use of the promise of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

A three-month, equity-free Google accelerator program for Seed to Series A IT firms in India is called Google for Startups Accelerator (GFSA). Almost 130 firms in India have used it to speed up their growth thus far.

Twitter will remove legacy blue checkmarks on April 1

On March 24, Twitter announced that it would remove legacy blue checkmarks from user accounts starting April 1.

When legacy blue checkmark holders click on their checkmarks, a pop-up reads, “This is a legacy verified account. It may or may not be notable.” But now ‘legacy blue checkmarks’ will be removed.

This action is being taken as Twitter Blue, owned by Elon Musk, extends its subscription service globally.

Prior to Musk’s acquisition, a checkmark on Twitter was used to confirm that certain people and organizations were indeed notable, active, and real accounts. Verified checkmarks were provided at no cost.

Snapchat launched new business AI solutions for retailers

The parent company of Snapchat, Snap has introduced a new business unit that will provide retailers and companies with its augmented reality (AI) solutions so they can incorporate them into their apps.

The new “Augmented Reality Solutions for Business” (ARES) division will enable businesses to adapt Snap’s AR features for their apps and websites in order to attract customers and create more immersive experiences, reports The Verge.

Through augmented reality shopping solutions, the ARES company intends to help retailers increase sales and reduce return rates.

According to a company blog post, the “My AI” chatbot will be made accessible to Snapchat+ subscribers this week as an experimental feature.

Twitter to soon increase long-form tweets to 10k characters

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, announced on Tuesday that the microblogging site will soon allow users to send tweets with up to 10,000 characters and basic formatting tools.

The standard character limit for tweets was originally 280 characters, and it still is for non-subscribers.

Twitter had previously stated that US Blue subscribers would have access to longer tweets on the platform, up to 4,000 characters.

Twitter, Elon Musk‘s own microblogging network, may face stiff competition in the future from Facebook and Instagram’s parent firm Meta. Meta claimed to be thinking about developing a social network similar to Twitter.

The company has acknowledged that it is looking into the potential of using a different social network to share text updates.

A representative for Meta said, “We are examining the potential of a distinct social network for posting text updates, where creators and public figures will be allowed to share information of their choice,” in a statement to America’s magazine “Variety”.

Company working on P92 project

To compete with Twitter, the business is working on a project called P92. Users will have the option of logging in with their Instagram account on the social media platform.

DuckDuckGo also joins the AI search engine race with DuckAssist

DuckDuckGo, a privacy-focused search engine, has joined Microsoft and Google as the newest seasoned search player to dip its beak in the generative AI trend.

Today, DuckDuckGo launched DuckAssist, an AI-powered summarization feature that responds directly to users’ simple searches.

Using Wikipedia and other reference sites that it uses to source answers, DDG claims that its natural language summarization capability is powered by natural language technology from ChatGPT creator OpenAI and Anthropic, an AI startup founded by former OpenAI employees.

At the moment, DuckAssist is only accessible through DDG’s apps and browser extensions, but the business claims it hopes to make it available to all users of search in the upcoming weeks.

The beta feature can be accessed without logging in and is available for free. Right now, it’s only offered in English.
