A severe blow has befallen the Congress party ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections. Jagadish Shettar has once more “returned home” to the BJP after joining the Congress before the Karnataka Assembly elections.

At the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Jagadish Shettar made his comeback to the party with state BJP president BY Vijayendra and former chief minister and senior party leader BS Yediyurappa. Also met the party’s national president JP Nadda in Delhi.

The former chief minister of Karnataka told news agency ANI that he had met Amit Shah, the senior party leader and Union Home Minister. In April of last year, he joined the Congress and abandoned the BJP. He was awarded a ticket by the Congress to run for the Karnataka Assembly from Hubli-Dharwad, however he was unsuccessful. The party then made him an MLC.
