Kolkata News: Sandhya Mukherjee’s health condition deteriorated early this morning and she was taken to a hospital. A green corridor created by the Kolkata Traffic Police took her from her south Kolkata residence through a green corridor to the state-run SSKM Hospital after she complained of breathlessness.

Ms. Mukherjee slipped in the bathroom last night, health department sources told Press Trust of India. Her health condition deteriorated overnight after she was hospitalized.
Her lungs are both infected. Fever has also been detected. She is currently receiving treatment at the Woodburn Block,” she told The Associated Press, adding that a medical board has been formed at the SSKM to assess the singer’s health.
She had refused an offer of the Padma Shri award a few days back despite receiving ‘Banga Bibhushan’ and the National Film Awards for best female playback singer. Central government officials contacted her telephonically to obtain her consent.
Ms. Mukherjee has been a classical and semi-classical singer for a number of Bengali and Hindi films. In addition to SD Burman, Madan Mohan, Naushad, Anil Biswas, and Salil Chaudhury, she has worked with many other top music directors as well.
