ED raids 10 different places in Bengal in connection with the ration scam, two Trinamool Congress leaders also involved

Bengal Ration Scam: Major actions were taken by the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday in a case involving purported corruption in the distribution of rations. Ten locations in West Bengal were searched by the ED, including homes connected to former minister Jyotipriya Mallick’s friend and owner of a rice mill, Barik Biswas.

Central armed forces and ED officers conducted raids in Rajarhat, Barasat, Basirhat, Bhangar, and Deganga.

PTI was informed by an official that “businessmen’s offices that are either directly or indirectly implicated in the scheme are there in addition to rice and flour mills. Among them are two Deganga-based Trinamool Congress leaders, whose factories are being examined.”

ED files prosecution complaint against TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan and three others in a money laundering case

West Bengal: The challenges surrounding TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan are getting worse. In a money laundering investigation, the Enforcement Directorate has filed a criminal charge against Sheikh Shahjahan, the leader of the TMC, and three other individuals.

Based on 13 First Information Reports (FIRs) against Sheikh Shahjahan and others filed by the West Bengal Police under various sections of the IPC Act, 1860, and the Arms Act, 1959, the ED has opened an inquiry. Shahjahan and other individuals are accused of engaging in organized crime, including harming people, committing murder or attempting to commit murder, threatening extortion, seizing public land, and receiving illicit financial gains and benefits.

In the money laundering case against Shahjahan Sheikh and others, the Kolkata Regional Office of the ED has filed a prosecution complaint (PC) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 against SK Sahajan, SK Alamgir, Shib Prasad Hazra, and others before Special Judge, CBI-1, Bichar Bhavan, Kolkata.

According to the ED investigation, Shahjahan established a criminal empire centered on land grabs, illicit fishing and trade, occupying brick fields, contract cartelization, collecting illicit taxes and levies, and receiving commissions on land sales.

Trouble increases for TMC leader Mahua Moitra, ED registers case under PMLA Act

TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan brought to Basirhat police lockup after arrest

West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali is currently the topic of conversation. On Thursday, Sheikh Shahjahan was taken into custody by West Bengal Police on charges of land grabbing and sexual harassment. Shahjahan was taken to the police jail in Basirhat at approximately five in the morning after being picked up by the police from the Sarberia neighborhood last night. Mahua Moitra, the leader of the TMC, left her official home today. The TMC leader Mahua Moitra’s office has informed that by 10 am today, Mahua’s residence at 9B Telegraph Lane has been fully cleared out.

Mahua’s attorneys turned up the bungalow to the Estate Directorate. Officials are currently examining the bungalow. The attorneys claimed that no evictions had occurred and that the property had been cleared out before the authorities showed there.

IT raids continue on the premises of former TMC MLA Sohrab Ali in Asansol, West Bengal

Income Tax Raid: Six other people, including former Trinamool MLA Sohrab Ali, had their residences raided by the IT department. Since Wednesday morning, the Income Tax Department has been conducting raids at various places, including his office and apartment in Asansol, West Bengal.

Notably, raids have occurred at Sohrab Ali’s Rehmat Nagar home, and reports of raids have been received at the homes of Vijay Singh, Javed Khan, and Munnawar Hussain, Syed Imtiaz’s associate and business partner.
