20-storey building has caught fire in Mumbai

In Mumbai today (Saturday), a massive fire broke out in a 20-storey residential building (Huge Fire at High Rise Building), in which at least six people were killed, and 15 others injured. In addition to the three critically injured, 12 other people are reported to be in stable condition.

An early morning fire started on the 18th floor of the Kamala Building near the Gowalia Tank area of Central Mumbai’s Tardeo district around 7 am. As soon as they received the information, the fire brigade and police came to the scene.

A nearby hospital has taken care of all the injured. Twelve of them were admitted to the general ward because their condition is stable, while three were admitted to the intensive care unit because their condition is critical. Two people have died of burns in this accident, according to a doctor from Bhatia Hospital. Four people have died at Nair Hospital.

The fire is classified as a level-3 (large) fire, according to an official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). According to an official, 13 fire tenders, seven water tankers, and others are being used to douse the fire. BJP president and MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha expressed sadness over the accident and said that it is an unfortunate incident.
