Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, has been dealt a serious blow by the BCCI. Shubman Gill has been fined twenty-five percent of his match fee for keeping a slow over rate during Friday’s Indian Premier League 2024 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium against Chennai Super Kings.
In a statement confirming the penalties, the BCCI and IPL mentioned that this was the team’s second infraction of the IPL’s code of conduct about slow over-rate violations this season. Because of this and in light of the gravity of the infraction, Gill has been hit with a fine of Rs 24 lakh.
The remaining players in the playing eleven, including the impact players, were also subject to individual fines of Rs 6 lakh, or 25% of their match earnings, as per IPL regulations. If Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, breaches this regulation once more, Gill will be suspended for one game.
