On April 8, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the Chennai Airport’s new integrated terminal building. The new terminal, T-2 (Phase-1), has been built over a 1,36,295 square meter area, and it cost Rs 1260 crore to complete.
The new structure will raise the airport’s current 23 Million Passenger Per Annum (MPPA) capacity to 30 MPPA with the purpose of serving more passengers.
The new terminal, according to the official statement, is a remarkable representation of the local Tamil culture, including customary characteristics like the Kolam (a pattern or design drawn in front of South Indian dwellings), saris, temples, and other things that emphasize the surrounding landscape.
