Guwahati-bound IndiGo flight lands in Dhaka due to bad weather

Silchar: An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Assam’s Guwahati had to make an emergency landing in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka at 4 am on Saturday amid poor visibility, individuals with knowledge of the matter said.

Due to severe fog, IndiGo aircraft 6E 5319 was unable to land at the well-known Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and was diverted to nearby Dhaka, some 400 kilometers from Guwahati.

According to the aforementioned sources, the crew chose to divert the aircraft to Dhaka after the pilots were unable to land the aircraft at Guwahati airport due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

In May 2017, Prime Minister Modi laid the cornerstone for AIIMS Guwahati. The preparation of it cost Rs. 1120 crore. The residents of the North East will have access to top-notch medical services thanks to AIIMS.

The three 500-bed medical institutions Nalbari Medical College, Nagaon Medical College, and Kokrajhar Medical College were also dedicated to the country by the prime minister.

Four people, including two children, have died in a landslide that took place amid torrential rains for three days. After this, the death toll in floods and other rain-related accidents has gone up to 54 so far. In the state, several rivers have seen an increase in water levels. Assam continues to suffer from bad weather.

Waterlogging at various places

Numerous landslides were caused by constant rains in many parts of the state. As Guwahati experienced heavy rains and landslides, water logging was reported in various parts of the city.

A landslide damaged the security wall of a house in Guwahati’s Bashist area. According to reports, the house belonged to a woman, who has been identified as Kalpana Kumari Deka. However, no physical damage or casualties have been reported in this incident.

More rain likely in the next two days

Another incident took place in the Mathgharia area, where a house was damaged by a landslide. Assam has been receiving heavy rains for the past five days, resulting in water-logging of all major roads in the state capital. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted more rain in the next two days.
