In Odisha, the Rath Yatra began on Sunday, July 7. This year, Puri’s Rath Yatra spans two days, following 53 years. The Rath Yatra resumed on Monday, July 8, following Mangala Aarti and Bhog on the second day of the Yatra.

This time, the Jagannath temple in Puri was packed with worshippers. On the second day of the Rath Yatra, a sizable crowd of devotees also assembled to celebrate. Every one of the three chariots is sporadically making progress. The Yatra will arrive at the Gundicha shrine today.

Over 10 lakh pilgrims arrived on Sunday, the opening day of the Yatra. One devotee lost his life and numerous others were hurt in a stampede that resulted from the crowd’s fear. The Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred 8 District Magistrates (DMs) and 12 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to five states Assam, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh.

According to a press release from the Election Commission, this decision was made as part of a routine review at a meeting with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

It has been requested that all transferred officers promptly turn over control to their junior officers. The Commission further declared that till the Lok Sabha elections are over, the resigning officers will not be assigned any election-related duties. The Commission has been instructed to receive a list of names from the state governments of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officials. The officers who make up the “shortlist” will be appointed to replace the transferred officers.

India’s DRDO today successfully flight-tested the new generation Akash (AKASH-NG) missile

Today, India’s DRDO successfully tested the New Generation AKASH (AKASH-NG) missile in flight. The test was carried out against a fast-moving, very low-altitude unmanned aerial target at dawn from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha. The weapon system successfully intercepted and destroyed the target during the flight test.

The information gathered by several radars, telemetry, and electro-optical tracking systems that ITR, Chandipur, deployed was also used to validate the system’s performance. Senior representatives from the Indian Air Force (IAF), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), and DRDO saw the flying test.

Mantri Raksha Regarding the flight test, Shri Rajnath Singh has expressed gratitude to the IAF, PSUs, DRDO, and industry. According to him, the system’s successful development will improve the nation’s air defense capabilities even further.

DRDO successfully test-fires new generation ballistic missile ‘Agni Prime’

On June 7, 2023, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a flight test of the New Generation Ballistic Missile “Agni Prime” from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. The flight test successfully demonstrated all objectives.

After three productive missile development tests, this was the first pre-induction night launch carried out by the users, proving the precision and dependability of the system.

In order to gather flight data covering the complete trajectory of the vehicle, range instrumentation like radar, telemetry, and electro-optical tracking systems was deployed at various sites, including two down-range ships, at the terminal position.

As a result of the successful flight test conducted by DRDO and Strategic Forces Command, the system is now ready to be adopted by the Armed Forces.
