Heavy rains cause severe waterlogging and traffic jams in the capital Delhi, advisory issued

Numerous sections of the National Capital have seen knee-deep waterlogging, causing traffic disruptions and forcing the traffic police to issue an advisory.

People are recommended not to go in this way today owing to traffic on the Dhaula Kuan flyover, Narayana to Moti Bagh, and Ring Road, which is impacted by heavy rain. Jangpura and RK Ashram in Delhi are experiencing major waterlogging as a result of the night’s nonstop, heavy rainfall.

Numerous airlines have canceled flights as a result of the roof collapsing at Delhi Airport Terminal 1 as a result of the heavy rainfall. Additionally, a portion of the airport had to be closed.

Due to traffic congestion in numerous areas, Delhi Traffic Police has also recommended against leaving the house. Additionally, it has been requested to monitor traffic updates in case it becomes necessary to leave the house.

Heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, school-college holiday order in many districts

Tamil Nadu Rain Alert: Many areas of Tamil Nadu, especially the northern part, saw nighttime rain. In addition to Chennai and the nearby cities of Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur also had significant rainfall. Heavy rains expected in Himachal Pradesh-Uttarakhand, orange alert issued for seven states

The problems could be made worse by Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand‘s heavy rainfall and landslides. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh will experience severe to very heavy rainfall, according to the Indian Meteorological Department. From August 21 to August 24, an orange alert has been issued for these seven states.

In Himachal and Uttarakhand, the Meteorological Department expects significant rainfall ranging from 115.6 to 204.4 mm. It was also mentioned that landslides and floods could occur in the impacted areas at this time. Thunderstorms and lightning warnings have also been issued in addition to this.

On August 22 and 23, extremely heavy rains between 115.6 and 204.4 mm are predicted for western Uttar Pradesh as well. Between August 21 and 24, eastern UP may get severe rain.

The northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram as well as Rajasthan are expected to see severe rainfall over the course of the next three days, according to the meteorological department.
