Sandeshkhali Case: For several days, West Bengal witnessed protests over the arrest of Sheikh Shahjahan, the primary offender who was evading capture in the Sandeshkhali case. Here, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling TMC were engaged in a verbal battle. Amidst all of this, on Thursday, February 29, Sheikh Shahjahan was taken into custody; yet, the two sides’ verbal attacks continued.

“This is not an arrest, this is mutual coordination,” says West Bengal LOP Suvendu Adhikari about the arrest of TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan. Justice will not be served to the people there unless the central agencies arrest him. He’ll have access to five-star prison facilities. He’ll utilize the inside cell phone to take control of the area.”

Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in West Bengal, and BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh departed for Sandeshkhali. Suvendu Adhikari has been granted permission by the Calcutta High Court to travel to Jelliakhalia and Haldarpara in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas.

6 BJP leaders including Suvendu Adhikari suspended in West Bengal Assembly

Kolkata: Due to “unruly and disorderly behavior inside the Assembly,” six BJP leaders—including Agnimitra Paul and West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari—were suspended for the balance of the assembly term.

By State Assembly Rule 348, he has been suspended. West Bengal Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay made the motion, which the Speaker brought to the House for approval.

Suvendu Adhikari appeals in High Court to postpone Trinamool Congress rally amid Ayodhya festival

Kolkata News: Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal Assembly, filed a request for a postponement of a Trinamool Congress rally on January 22 with the Calcutta High Court.

Adhikari also asked the High Court to intervene in his case, requesting that military personnel be stationed throughout the state to uphold law and order on a day that falls on the same as the Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha celebration in Ayodhya.

According to LoP, there have been violent incidents in West Bengal during several religious festivals, hence such safety measures are required. Adhikar’s appeal has been accepted by the division bench headed by Justice Harish Tandon, and a hearing is scheduled for this Thursday.

BJP calls for 12-hour strike at Moyna in East Midnapore to protest against killing of party worker

After a party leader was found dead on Monday night, the BJP announced a 12-hour strike for Wednesday in Moyna, East Midnapore.

Trinamool Congress and local police officers are blamed for the alleged murder by opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari.

The BJP has also made the decision to erect blockades at 100 locations in the East Midnapore district on Wednesday between 10 and 11 am. Workers from the BJP will hold a demonstration on Thursday to denounce the suspected murder of Bhuina.

Bijoy Krishna Bhunia, the head of a BJP booth committee in the Moyna constituency, was allegedly abducted on Monday night by thugs with Trinamul support. Later, his body was discovered close to a body of water near where he lived.

Amit Shah visits West Bengal for two days, Will address public meeting in Siliguri today

In addition to attending meetings and holding a rally, Amit Shah also traveled to forward areas along the India-Bangladesh border during his two-day visit, his first to West Bengal since the 2021 assembly polls.

Nisith Pramanik and Suvendu Adhikari, head of the BJP in Kolkata, welcomed Shah upon his arrival at the airport.

The home minister is expected to inaugurate the BSF’s floating border outposts at Hingalganj and lay the foundation stone for the ‘Maitri’ museum at Haridaspur on Thursday.

His evening schedule includes a public speech in Siliguri.

On Friday, Shah will visit the Teen Bigha border area of India and Bangladesh, where he will meet with BSF personnel.

The minister will meet BJP office-bearers at the state headquarters on Friday after attending a program at Kolkata’s Victoria Memorial Hall.
