India achieves 100 crore vaccination milestone in just 9 month

On Thursday, India reached a milestone of 100 crore vaccination doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. Just over 9 months have passed since the nationwide immunization drive began on January 16, 2021.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the 130 crore Indians for pulling off this incredible achievement. Afterward, they thanked the medical health professionals and citizens who made it possible.

Nearly 75 percent of adults have received their first dose of the vaccination, according to the government, and 31 percent have received both doses. In terms of vaccination doses administered, Uttar Pradesh has administered the most (12 crores), followed by Maharashtra and Gujarat.

To commemorate the 100 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, the Centre has planned a series of events. At the historic Red Fort, the country’s largest Khadi flag will be displayed and a song will be released by Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

On Thursday, Jagat Prakash Nadda, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will pay a visit to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. According to news agency ANI, Nadda will review the functioning of the vaccination center at Kailash Mansarovar Bhawan at 10.30 am on October 21.

Left parties also doubted if the country will reach the target of vaccinating all adults against Covid-19 by the end of the year since only 31% of the population has already received both doses.

Alert issued in landslide-prone area amid fear of heavy rains in Kerala

Kerala News: Kerala, already soaked by rain, is forecast to receive more rain from Wednesday onward. IMD predicts extremely heavy to very heavy rains in the Eastern Ghat belt and hills of the state.

First time in Kerala, the government is in the process of evacuating people in landslide-prone areas in the eastern hills, while fishermen are being hired by district administrations to help evacuate people from low-lying districts.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan urged people living near rivers and in hills to be extremely vigilant. Due to the end of the southwest monsoon, the chances for landslides and river overflows are very high. Residents of houses that the state disaster management authority has previously identified as unsafe should move to safer areas immediately. We have instructed the district administrations to compulsorily relocate people who live in unfit houses and those living near riversides,” he said.

An alert has been sounded in landslide-prone areas of the state by the state disaster management authority. People in many districts have been encouraged to move away from slopes prone to landslides by the revenue department.

Last week, landslides and flooding severely affected the district of Kottayam. 33 areas in the district have been identified as landslide-prone.

Water from Idukki will be released into the Periyar River, which will flow downstream to Ernakulam and Idukki. People living in low-lying areas and river basins are being relocated to relief camps since dams are being opened and heavy rains are forecast.

Jafar Malik, the Ernakulam District Collector, said, “The water will reach Aluva in Ernakulam by midnight when it is released from Idukki reservoir.” Water levels are unlikely to rise significantly if there is no rain. The situation could change at any moment due to heavy rains.”

Kushinagar International Airport Inaugurated by PM Modi in UP, Visit Mahaparinirvana Temple

Kushinagar International Airport in UP was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi today with a flight from Sri Lanka becoming the first to land.

“In order to develop the places associated with Lord Buddha, for better connectivity, special attention is being given by India today on the creation of facilities for the devotees. The development of Kushinagar is in the priorities of the UP government and the central government,” said the Prime Minister.

In his speech, PM Modi highlighted how the Kushinagar airport would enhance a regional economy and provide new job opportunities.

Indian airports will add capacity to handle over 22.5 million passengers

According to government data; as a result of the opening of the Leh airport and of the new terminal buildings at the Pune and Dehradun airports at the end of next year, the passenger handling capacity of Indian airports possibly increases by more than 22.5 million per annum.

In addition to the new terminal building at Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport having been inaugurated on October 9, the construction of the new Pune Airport terminal building is scheduled to conclude by August 2022 and Leh’s new airport will likely become operational by December next year.

Dehradun’s new terminal building will have a floor area of 28,729 square meters, with the capacity to handle 1,200 passengers during peak hours, doubling the airport’s capacity.

Moreover, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union minister of civil aviation, said in September the Leh airport will be able to handle 2.5 million passengers per annum. India’s airports will be able to handle 19 million passengers per year with the addition of a new terminal building at Pune that covers more than 500,000 square feet and is capable of handling a massive amount of traffic.

Jyotiraditya Scindia set eight policy targets in the first week of September, including the opening of five new airports, six heliports and launching 50 new commercial routes through the UDAN scheme, or ‘Udey Desh Ka Aam Nagarik’.

Scindia had said at the time that the 100-day plan would take effect from August 30 to November 30 and would include 16 key points, four of them belonging to infrastructure, eight to policy targets, and four to reforms.

During a raid on a drug party by the Narcotics Control Bureau on October 2, Narcotic Control officials arrested Aryan Khan. At the moment, Aryan Khan, the son of SRK, is in judicial custody for 14 days.

Aryan Khan’s dad Shah Rukh Khan has many Bollywood celebrities and fans standing by him after the actor’s son was arrested in a suspected drug case.

Narcotics Control Bureau agents raided an alleged rave party on the Cordelia Cruise and detained Aryan and seven others. Farah Khan Ali is the latest celeb to show her support to SRK’s family.

First snowfall of the season was witnessed in Kupwara region of Kashmir

Kashmir News: On Monday, the first snow for the season fell in higher reaches of Kashmir, including the Zoji La Pass that connects the valley with Ladakh.

Z-Gali Machil in Kupwara, Kangdoori in Gulmarg and Sadnah Top in Karnah were among the upper reaches of Kashmir that experienced fresh snowfall.

The valley was drenched by rains. Fresh snow fell on the Amarnath Cave Temple in Anantnag as well.

Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh experienced a cooling of temperatures. In Srinagar, the minimum temperature was 9.8 degrees Celsius, in Pahalgam, 6.7 degrees Celsius, and in Gulmarg, 1.5 degrees Celsius. According to the Met Office, Leh received 5.6 degrees, while Drass gained 3.1.

Meanwhile; the lowest temperatures of the night were recorded in Jammu at 20, Katra at 15, Batote at 9, Banihal at 8, and Bhaderwah at 9.2.

Mumbai News: Maharashtra bandh over Lakhimpur Kheri violence

Mumbai News: Maharashtra’s shops will remain closed today as the Maha Vikas Aghadi government has called the Maharashtra bandh. As a show of solidarity with farmers in Uttar Pradesh and to express regret for the deaths in Lakhimpur Kheri.

The state chief of the Congress, Nana Patole, and the city leader Bhai Jagtap are scheduled to take part in a sit-in at Raj Bhavan. The developments in Uttar Pradesh, said Patole, were a threat to democracy.

In the western suburbs, a Shiv Sena shakha pramukh said: “We are being told that shops should be closed, but not to get out and create a ruckus as we are in power.” The Vashi APMC and most agricultural market produce committees will remain closed on Monday.

APMC Market in Pune was closed in support of Maha Vikas Aghadi’s call for a Maharashtra bandh over the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri.

On Monday, the Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport service (BEST) buses were not operational.

Notice to Film Producer Imtiaz Khatri in Drugs-On-Cruise Case from NCB

Aryan Khan, the son of actor SRK, is accused of a drugs-on-cruise case. In which NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) raided the house and office of Film Producer Imtiaz Khatri in Bandra.

Achit Kumar, who suffered a small quantity of hydroponic weed alias multi-strain cannabis seized from him earlier this week in suburb Powai, was interrogated about Imtiaz’s name during the course of that interrogation. Imtiaz Khatri has connections with many big actors in Mumbai.

After the cruise drugs case arrest of Aryan Khan, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has been on high alert. There have now been 18 arrests in relation to the case.

The agency found 13 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA, 5 grams of MD, and 1.33 lakh rupees in cash during the raid on the cruise.
