In Mumbai, 922 new cases of Covid19 infection were reported on Sunday, increasing the number of people infected to 7,71,112. In the same period, two people died from infection, bringing the death toll to 16,370. A representative of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) provided this information. The number of people who have recovered from the infection has grown to 7,47,864 after 326 people left hospitals in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 4,295 patients being treated in Mumbai. On Sunday, 34,819 samples were tested in the country’s financial capital, bringing the total to 1,34,48,858 samples tested over the course of the week.

As of Sunday, 31 new cases of Omicron were reported in Maharashtra, increasing the total number of people infected with this virus to 141. A statement from the Mumbai Health Department said 27 new cases of Omicron have been reported in the city, bringing the total to 73. All of these new cases were discovered during an investigation at Mumbai International Airport, it said.

Gujarat has four patients, Karnataka has three, Kerala and Delhi has two, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh have one, Maharashtra has some patients from Jalgaon, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Aurangabad, and two are foreigners. In Thane and Pune Rural, there were two cases each on Sunday, while in Akola, there were one each.

In the state so far, 141 Omicron patients have been identified, 73 from Mumbai, 19 from Pimpri Chinchwad (near Pune city), 16 from rural Pune districts, seven from Pune city, and five each from Satara and Osmanabad. Omicron infection has been reported in Thane city, Kalyan Dombivli (Thane district), Nagpur and Aurangabad two each, and Buldhana, Latur, Ahmednagar, Akola, Vasai-Virar (Palghar district), Navi Mumbai, and Mira Bhayander (Thane district).

The hospital has discharged 61 of these patients after they became infection-free. 17 of the 31 new patients who arrived Sunday were men, 14 were women, according to the statement. They range in age from 18 to 60 years old. Six of them are young, and three are older. Some of the patients were returning from foreign travel, and one patient was contacted by a traveler who had contracted the infection abroad.
