Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut found guilty in defamation case, sentenced to 15 days and fined Rs 25,000

Sanjay Raut, the leader of the Shiv Sena UBT, has been found guilty in the defamation case. He was given a sentence of 15 days in jail and a Rs 25,000 fine.

The case relates to 2022. Medha Somaiya was charged by Sanjay Raut with taking part in the Mulund toilet scandal. Kirit Somaiya then pressed Sanjay Raut to produce a proof for this claim. However, since Sanjay Raut failed to present any evidence, Medha Somaiya sued him for defamation, suing him for Rs 100 crore.

Sanjay Raut is charged with penning offensive writings critical of Prime Minister Modi. ‘Saamana’s’ executive editor is Raut. ED has seized the property

Varsha Raut, the wife of Sanjay Raut, owns the property of 2 crores, while Praveen Raut owns the property worth 9 crores.
